Group rapport

The beauty of rapport is that it works. All the time. We humans are social creatures and will build rapport to be in sync with the other. I would even go as far as to say that we need to be in rapport with the group, because it is our group. It makes us feel good to be in the group. Even if the group is only one person - the one we are with currently.

We identify with our group, become the same with them. We adopt their habits, their views, their gestures, their nearly everything.

I had a training on Saturday and then we did the rapport exercise. It is a one-on-one exercise, but then, something happened. The whole group started to swing and sway. It looked like a mutual dance, and that is what rapport is about. Rapport is like a dance. In this case, within a group. This actually showed how strong the bondage in the group was. But, to me, it also shows, how fascinating and wide ranging rapport is.

Now, as an exercise - go into any LRT, or a public space, and see, how a group goes into rapport with each other and how they behave - in sync.
