Lazy hard-sell - not with me
Clearly, I like networking and there is nothing better than following up on new contacts made, old contacts refreshed spiced up with some nice surprises alongside any event (thus meeting Danny Foo in the most recent networking event!)
It is also interesting what happens AFTER a networking event. Do you look happily and smilingly at your pack of business cards collected, do you put them into a drawer and opnly look at them once you introduce your grandchild to networking, do you cold call the people behind the cards while desparately trying to recall their faces and stories?
I am not sure. What are you guys reading this doing with the cards collected?
Well, after my recent one, I received a mail from someone. It wasn't a mail expressing his happiness to have met me and ask me out for lunch, but the same mail as sent to anybody that this person (who should remain anonymous) met. Fine. Even so it was a sales pitch. Still okay, I mean, we are in a business networking session, right?
What amazed me was the last sentence, so.
"I believe, just like me, most of us had information overload this morning. Therefore, I would appreciate if you could drop a line and explain what you do and how I can assist you with the growth of your business."
I don't see the connection between the first sentence and the following. Moreover, this person, pitching us for business, is asking us as poor overloaded individuals (see first sentence) to drop him a line, explaining what we do and how he could help us. Okay, he is in the health business, but still - HELLO. We are overloaded, and you ask us for more things to do? In the end we would help you formulate your follow up pitch by informing you about our needs?
And hey - if you have got my business card, wouldn't you see the web address - AlwaysWoW.com? I took great care to put it on my card - and I believe others did as well-, hoping that someone, anyone, would look it up, once they get the business card and see what I am doing (is it so difficult to find my business outline?). I am paying for this web address, you know!
Okay, I understand as well that you would have a hard time to look up all the web addresses and understand the different business. But hey - isn't this what business is all about?
So Senor, sorry, no reply mail from me, and please, no hardsell on this level.

Ain't it just a shocker and ironic meeting me there. LoL! :)
Anyway, it was good to actually meet you again since I we never really spoke much since the last bloggers gathering.
Now I'm part of the group so maybe we would see each other one day again. I've my group of business networkers not just busines people but a bunch of brothers and sisters, just like a family.
Take care, Andreas.
