Back from Redang, and if only for a while
I came back this afternoon, from my trip to Redang. 5 days blue sky, blue sea, and fun!
Building castles - an old time favourite of my boy. He had total fun. He was just up and in the water, under the water, building castles - I believe he would have done everything at the same time, if possible. Result? He slept nearly immediately the moment his head hit the pillow.

His father (of course, yours truly) helped out in building castles - resulting in major sunburns, but lots of fun, nevertheless.

The usual beautiful scene, as well as visiting islands outside of the main island and the marine park. Sad, still, that the corals are still dead, at least at the places that were shown to tourists. Which might be a good thing because it is not clear how well a "normal" tourist takes care of corals.

My mum, my boy and his cousin enjoying the food

My mum tries to cope with the Malaysian food and she does it well. However, she starts to miss European kitchen, and still has to "survive" another three weeks of Asian Food.
I have to say, nevertheless, that, according to my opinion, Berjaya's food and the service in the restaurant is disappointing. The food is bland, and probably attuned to European taste - but then, it is kind of boring. The selection is not great either. All still okay, but then, the flies that swarm around the fruits and jam don't help much in making the food more appealing. I also caught a cockroach between the glasses - and it took a while until their waiters were able to remove it from under the cup under which I trapped the insect. The first day, the container with orange juice run empty and it was initially amazing to see, how the waiters and waitresses were able to ignore the plain emptiness. It took a while to get filled up again, even after a couple of reminders.
Anyway - it has been a great holiday. Five days no work, no calls, no SMS, no computer, no e-mail, only sleeping, swimming, eating, and lazying. Way to go.
But hey - the next trip is coming up - to Sarawak, this Sunday!!
