Visualisation at bowling
My company organised a sports day for its employees yesterday. Part of it was bowling. I am not good at it, really. But I tried something different yesterday.
First, I visualised how the ball (is this what this round thing is called in bowling?) would hit the right spot on the trail (nah, cannot be the right word as well) and how it would hit the pins.
Once I did this, I just looked at the pins and rolled the ball. It really worked. At least most of the times - it was a good game. My team won, and while I wasn't the best player in my team, I was pretty good.
Concentration and visualisation is important to achieve our goals. Visualising is a different word for dreaming or imagining (dreaming might be less action-related).
Imagine the results, visualise what will happen if, what you want to achieve, becomes reality.
See, how and what you want to be in 12 months from now, 3 years from now - timeframe doesn't matter, but if you are new to this, try a shorter timeframe.
Imagine, what would happen, if you complete this one project you are working on currently, successfully. Imagine its outcome and how it will look like when you finally submit it.
It might sound strange, but the more often you do it, the more often you will succeed. Your mind is simply prepared to set into action what you imagine you want to do.
I love to do this when I am invited to speak at a seminar or a conference. I imagine myself going up the stage, how I speak, and how the audience is reacting to it.
The least it does is taking my stagefright away, because in my mind, I already experienced what is going to happen when I start to speak, anyway.
It also is a nice way to organise your life. Who else is visualising around here? Share your experience!

I visualise a lot during speeches. Like how they would react, and how I would counter-act. I visualise different outcomes to prepare myself well and not get a foot in my mouth.

I never used to visualise. Always drifting, rather than setting up goals. I got burned a few times. Which prompted me to set goals more often. Though they don't really get achieved that often :P
