Malaysians want a better policeforce - what do I want?
Malaysians want a better policeforce. Clearly, that appears to be coming out from recent news articles.
It starts in traffic situations:
- I want a police force that drives according to speed limit
- I want a police force that overtakes on the right side of the road
- I want a police force that doesn't cut lanes
- I want a police force that goes after those that clearly violate traffic rules in sight of the law
- I want a police force that is honest. So that you know you are stopped because you did something wrong, not because they are looking for Cari Makan
- I want a police force that responds fast to emergency calls
- I want a polite and courteous police force
Do I ask for too much? Can they do this, in the beginning of their journey to improvement?

These two are enough for me already.

I think that you have some really idealistic points here, but they are verging on the naive.
A police force that drives according to speed limit?? How are they going to catch the high speed criminals?
A police force that overtakes on the right side of the road?? I know what the traffic is like in KL, this is just not realistic.
Have you ever spoken to anyone in the Police Force at length?? I am sure that you will understand some of their issues a little better. 90% of all the issues cops deal with are minor petty crime. Most of their time is wasted because members of the public don't know what an emergency, and the resource cutting government don't know what the difference between a criminologist and a sociologist.

Better don bribe policeman nowadays. They can earn incentives and get promoted quickly if they report ppl who tries to bribe them.

I still remember that policemen who asked me shut up when I told him to back off. He was searching for some criminal but ended up harassing my friend. Well it's hard to enforce the rules of the enforcers are not following the law in the first place right? It must have something to do with them being underpaid and under-respected. We are to blame for our lack of respect for them and the government is to blame for not paying them enough. On top of that the culture allows for their "cari makan" techniques. Sigh.. Pak Lah's got a lot of shit clean up. Good luck! LOL
